Author Coach / Book Coach

For writers who want to write their own book—without going mad in the process.

Lisa taught me so much about the craft of writing and, probably more importantly, she pushed me out of my comfort zone.

Yes, some people say “book coach.” But think about that…Books don’t need coaching. Writers do. (Trust me, I’ve tried giving feedback to a manuscript—it completely ignored me.)

What does an Author Coach do?

As your Author Coach, I’ll keep you on course while you write your own book.

We’ll start with a few deep-dive sessions to lay the foundation for your project: everything I cover as a Book Navigator, plus a customized writing plan. But I don’t wave goodbye at that point. I stay with you.

Here’s how it works:

  • Milestone map: We set realistic deadlines and check-in calls (mini ports of call, complete with refueling of motivation).
  • Accountability: You write chapters; you send them to me. I read them with a Developmental Editor’s eye and show up with honest, actionable notes.
  • Craft coaching: I’ll flag habits to strengthen and structural tangles to fix before they become full-blown shipwrecks, and course-correct theme drift.
  • Emotional ballast: If your material stirs up tough emotions (spoiler: it often does), I’ll help you navigate that without stalling.

At the end, you’ll have a completed manuscript, along with my final round of comments and guidance for revision. After that, we’ll talk about the next steps—editing, publishing, world domination.

The fee structure for author coaching is:

  • $1,000 for the first month, where we chart the book’s navigation and create the milestone map.
  • $500 per month afterward for 2 hours of 1-to-1 coaching calls, and I review 30 pages of text. I do require a 3-month minimum for coaching; afterward, we go month-to-month until you feel you’re ready to fly solo.
